Job Description

Reporting into the VP of Retail Strategy, you will be one of the crucial members of the Retail go-to-market team, supporting, and often leading, the GTM team in analyzing, structuring, and executing against key initiatives. Some of these initiatives will be time-bound efforts to capitalize upon particular opportunities or periods of the fiscal year or sales cycle; others will be ongoing efforts to optimize our GTM activities in general. You will work closely with team leadership to understand the overarching goals of the team and front-line colleagues to understand day-to-day challenges in working toward those goals. With that in mind, you will consider all of the data points currently or potentially available, ideate and build reports such that valuable insights can be gleaned, analyze those reports to discern actionable insights, and curate and deliver data-driven recommendations (as general suggestions or as rigorously detailed plans) to meet particular objectives.  You are half analyst, discerning signal from noise to make sound predictions; you are half strategist, curating compelling narratives and detailed proposals to achieve particular objectives.  In sum, you are far more than team’s excel-wiz numbers guru – you’re responsible for ensuring that the Retail arm of the Oracle Data Cloud is truly data-driven and rigorously deliberate in all efforts team-wide.   

Primary Responsibilities

·   Market Analysis: Pool industry data from various sources, working with Market Strategy Director to develop a comprehensive POV on the industry at-large as well as particulars of significance as illustrated by the data.

·   Product Analysis: Analyze product adoption, data usage, competitor offerings, and market pricing, working with Product Strategy on recommendations and business plans for new products, features, or commercial models

·   GTM Planning: Work with Sales leadership to develop sales plans with expectations on target accounts, deal size, win/loss ratios, timeliness to deal wins & rev rec, etc. Develop monthly reporting/dashboards to track execution against said plans that focus on providing actionable insights.

·   Sales Op Analysis: Work with Sales Ops to develop reports for Sales leadership illustrating opportunity analysis, pipeline reporting, sales productivity evaluations, and other insights for optimizing all sales efforts.

·   Revenue Recognition: Establish a process for analysis of raw data usage to derive new sales insights & actionable opportunities; monitor revenue expectations vs actuals & optimizing rev rec; improve projection efforts.

·   Revenue Projections: Own weekly revenue projections and larger efforts around key sales cycle planning and product roll-outs, including scenario development with risk and opportunity assessments.

·   Misc Operational Reporting: Support the team in creating reports for assessing & optimizing contracting workflow, product strategy workstreams, exec-level project management updates, and etcetera.

Skills & Qualifications

·       Experience: At least 5 years professional work; Bachelors related to finance, economics, or analytics; MBA is highly preferred. Conversant in SQL, VBA, Tableau, Excel, Powerpoint. jQuery or other scripting skills preferred.

·       Analytical Savvy: Illustrated ability to work with complex data sets, formulas and scripts to build impactful reports, develop numerous scenarios, and create accurate projections.  

·       Business Acumen: Ability to build and articulate business plans effectively, thinking strategically and analytically to operate with a focus on revenue, differentiating value, or other meaningful outcomes.

·       Project Management: Ability to scope, prioritize, and manage numerous workstreams, creating and maintaining accountability of all involved parties to commit & deliver to specific deliverables & deadlines.

·       Relational Savvy: Works well in team efforts, building trust and respecting boundaries. Reads situational dynamics and responds appropriately. Influences rather than directs

·       Strategic Approach: Critical thinking to separate signal from noise. Creative thinking to solve for roadblocks. Methodical, disciplined, and focused in executing toward specific outcomes.

·       Versatility: A data & analytics person who thinks like a sales person.  Ideates creatively and executes scaleably.  Speaks both marketing & tech. Can crunch numbers or tell captivating stories.

Qualifications
Responsible for the identification of relevant new business opportunities and designs "go-to-market" plan to deliver measurable and significant revenues. Pursues sales opportunities in the market, and carries the baton in the beginning of the sales cycle.

A Business Development Representative is assigned to strategic accounts which may be grouped by industry where Oracle has a limited presence. Acts as primary liaison between Consulting, Sales, and Oracle Development for the product*s sales opportunities. Generates business opportunities through prospecting mass market programs and leveraging third party partners. Develops and coordinates a worldwide relationship with customers that establishes Oracle as a preferred vendor and optimizes Oracle*s sales of product. Executes aggressive strategies and plans to successfully drive the product as the preferred customer selection. Provides account representatives with information on how the product addresses specific needs, and assists account representatives in using Oracle*s products to leverage large revenue opportunities. Assists in articulating product message, coordinates technical resources and hands off deals to a successful close.

Leading contributor individually and as a team member, providing direction and mentoring to others. Work is non-routine and very complex, involving the application of advanced technical/business skills in area of specialization. 8 years of progressively increased responsibilities in sales or sales management. Marketing and business development experience preferred. Business and account planning implementation experience. Conversant in Oracle technology and product strategies. Proven track record in managing multiple opportunities and ability to negotiate and close complex deals. Ability to determine strategy and tactical plans that deliver tangible results. Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills. Ability to travel. BA/BS degree or equivalent, advanced degree highly desirable.
